ANN MARIE HUDSON
Ann Marie served as manager of Moro Landis Studios before taking it over upon the building owner’s request and transforming it into Millennium Dance Complex. The famous studio had become troubled after George Moro’s death in the mid-1980s, and Ann Marie agreed to become the owner having worked at Moro Landis for three months.
Before coming to Los Angeles, Ann Marie had built a successful career as an entrepreneur. At age 21, she started Bodyworks Fitness Center, creating a low-impact aerobics and fitness class to provide an alternative to Jane Fonda’s popular body-pounding fitness routine. She taught yoga, gymnastics, and children’s dance while managing a staff of eight employees. She also did work as a fitness and weight trainer for a large fitness company chain in New Jersey.
When she was 24, Ann Marie sold her business and moved to New York City. There, she became an assistant to the director of the famous Broadway Dance Center, also working directly with its founder, Richard Elsner. Ann Marie went on to manage a Broadway jazz and supper club in New York City where she put together a girls group and wrote, produced, and choreographed the shows.
MDC LOS ANGELES,
HOLLYWOOD`S HOTTEST DANCE STUDIO
The Millennium Dance Complex is known worldwide as the premiere studio of the commercial dance world and is widely referred to as a ‘the place where it all happens’. Although the studio’s A-list clientele and a faculty of the most sought after dancers and choreographers in the world has catapulted MILLENNIUM to a global brand, it still remains notably grounded, welcoming and dedicated to the highest level of service and instruction.
MDC, LOS ANGELES
Walk down the narrow, photograph-covered halls and most everyone you talk to; professional dancers, absolute beginners, celebrity recording artists or choreographers, says that although it is ‘exciting to be here’, it also ‘feels like home’ and ‘my roots are here’.
It is widely known that MILLENNIUM has a passion for supporting young talent as they develop. Many get their ‘break’ in the business from opportunities and acquaintances provided by the studio. “Being here is like rubbing Buddha’s belly for good luck in the dance world’, says a young dancer with a smile.
Above all this is a place of dancing
For those who choose or cannot help
But put their body and heart and mind
To the test
Remember it is your own test
Do with it what you will
Take it to the world
Or keep it here, just for yourself
Know that to dance alone is enough
The rest are choices
We are all connected here
Young and old, expert and novice
Famous and aspiring
In all dance’s various styles and faces
Connected by a common thread
To the interior of ourselves
Via the vehicle of the physical
Connecting with our world more deeply
By connecting more deeply with ourselves
Respect the dance
Respect its dancers
We have made our own world within these walls
Driven by movement and music,
Strength and love
Create what you will
Welcome to the new Millennium
